Pilgrimage for Peace Local - WestMass

Join this upcoming Pilgrimage organized by Pilgrims in Western Massachusetts:

1).   We demand President Biden and Congress call for a Permanent Ceasefire in  Gaza.

2).    Restore funding to UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. With hundreds of thousands of civilians -the vast majority children- starving, anything less is a war crime and constitutes genocide.

3).   Release of remaining Israeli civilian hostages, and Palestinians held captive by Israel. It is our collective responsibility to advocate for a peaceful resolution and uphold the principles of justice and compassion.

A special thanks to all the Pilgrims who continued to log miles for peace, last Sunday, braving the cold and damp morning, to pray with their feet, their drums, their voice and their heart of compassion.

Approximately 378 schools have been destroyed or damaged. The Palestinian Ministry of Education has reported the deaths of over 4,327 students, 231 teachers and 94 professors.

Israel conducted more than 400 attacks on healthcare facilities in the Strip, including on every single one of its hospitals, leaving the majority non-functional. As of February 13, only 11 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza are partially functioning – five in the north and six in the south

Moved by our conscience, we stand united to address the ongoing tragedy in Gaza, where the death toll has reached over 31,000, the daily death rate in Gaza higher than any other major 21st Century conflict.  As we continue to mourn the loss of innocent Israeli lives on October 7, we firmly believe that responding to violence with more violence is not the solution.

Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage, Philadelphia

Convened by: Red Letter Christians, Freedom Road, Fellowship of Reconciliation, the Society for Faith and Justice, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and more.

What: “As Mary wept over Christ’s body, this Lenten season we are all mothers in Gaza weeping over the dead — over 30,000 killed since October 7, 2023 — senselessly from us by bombs and bullets and indifference. Like the people of Gaza today, Jesus was born as a refugee, in the middle of a genocide in an occupied land.  This Palm Sunday to Good Friday, we will demonstrate with our bodies and prayers the urgent cry for a ceasefire. As Christ said: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they are the children of God.”  Not in our name, not in the name of our Savior Christ, the Prince of Peace!

Between March 24 (Palm Sunday) and March 29 (Good Friday), when Christians around the world remember the crucifixion of Jesus, followers of Jesus and friends will walk 20 miles (almost the length from Gaza City to Rafah), approximately four miles per day; observing the ‘Stations of the Cross’ on each day. Walking from The Liberty Bell to Lockheed Martin, the world’s largest weapons contractor, participants will reflect on Jesus’ Passion and Death and our nation’s complicity in decades of bombings in Gaza, including the current carnage. The Philadelphia pilgrimage is part of the global ‘Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage’ movement.”

When: Sunday, March 24 (Palm Sunday) through Friday, March 29 (Good Friday)

Where: From the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA to Lockheed Martin headquarters in King of Prussia, PA

Multi-Faith Nonviolent Action 4 Ceasefire

Muslim, Christian, and Jewish leaders are organizing and participating in a faith-rooted action on Wed. March 6th at Lafayette Park next to the White House. We will begin with a 12pm vigil led by a multi-faith delegation returning from Palestine, with a nonviolent witness following the vigil. We invite you to join us and participate in a prayerful nonviolent resistance action calling for a ceasefire.

With Ramadan approaching on March 10th and the Israeli government claiming that day as the beginning of a full invasion in Rafah, if hostages aren’t released, this is a critical moment to draw on the power of faith to escalate and resist the normalization of mass slaughter. Biden’s State of the Union speech is also on March 7th.

Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimages

“Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage is a network of autonomous Christian groups with shared convictions who are engaging in a prayerful show of solidarity in cities around the world, where people during Lent will walk the length of the Gaza Strip.

Pilgrimages are taking place throughout Lent. We are encouraging people to find a date within Lent that works for them to host a pilgrimage. For those on the Western calendar, this year starts Wednesday, February 14th and finishes the day before Easter Sunday, Holy Saturday, March 30th. Lent is the 40 days (Sundays not included) that Christians meditate on the final period of Messiah Jesus’ life and his death. As Christians enter into the season of Lent, before the celebration of Easter, we are inviting anyone who wants to be involved in this prayerful, nonviolent pilgrimage that will be the length of Gaza – 41km, or 25 miles.”

Pilgrimages are also being hosted in North America:
